Frequently Asked Questions

What impact will it have on our power bill by switching to energy efficient windows?

Since 1992, with help from ENERGY STAR®, American businesses and families saved $297 billion on utility bills and prevented more than 2.1 billion metric tons of greenhouse gas emissions by 2013. Every Pella® Product meets or exceeds ENERGY STAR certification in all 50 states and most of Canada. How will this affect you? Not only could you notice a drop in your heating and cooling costs, you will help protect the environment.

How much will my replacement door or replacement windows project cost?

Our windows and doors are each specifically designed and custom-built for your home, meaning no two projects are alike. Our large variety of products make it nearly impossible to discuss pricing without first bearing in mind your wants and needs and the project results you envision. Due to this nature, we find it useful to send out a Pella sales representative who can give you a quoted project price after seeing the project site itself. To accelerate the process, your Pella® sales representative is prepared with a computer and a portable printer so that they can provide you with all the quote information you’ll need—once the sales representative has had a chance to consider the requirements of the task and brings them to life with your vision.

In addition to offering a large range of high-quality products to select from, we also have a generous offering of payment and finance options. Pella is uniquely-suited to offer you fantastic window and door products at affordable prices, offering you a chance to make the renovations you want to while building great value into your Des Moines area home as you do it.

What should I use to clean my glass windows?

We suggest that you should use a prepackaged vinegar-based cleaning mixture or use an ammonia free glass cleaner such as Windex or Sparkle. Or you can make your own with one part vinegar to ten parts water. Apply the solution to a soft, clean microfiber cloth or paper towel. Do not use glass cleaners that are ammonia- or alcohol-based as they could leave streaks or create a film that draws moisture and dust.

Do Pella® employees actually install your replacement windows and doors?

Pella uses dependable installers who are certified to install Pella windows and doors. They must complete a thorough set of training courses so that your windows and doors are correctly installed and meet Pella’s strict warranty criteria. We find the best Des Moines-local people and recruit them to install our projects. Before they can be hired, Pella requires them to pass a drug test and background check. Our installers are fully protected by liability and workers compensation insurance. Beyond Pella product warranties, your installation is also covered for 10 years under the installation limited warranty and service agreement.

What's different about buying replacement windows and doors from local Pella® showrooms versus buying from retailers like Lowe’s?

Your local Pella branch provides services and support that “big box” stores can’t provide. Our staff is made up of professionals whose expertise is in selling, installing, and servicing Pella Windows & Doors. Having a dedicated Pella sales team, project manager, local service technicians, and quality installers means that you will have the knowledge of our whole team. We commonly use the term “single source accountability”, meaning that there’s no one to chase down regarding a product, installation, or warranty issue. Simply contact our office, your sales representative, or our project manager with any questions or concerns you may have and we will get to work resolving the issue.

Why is Pella® the right choice for my home?

There are many reasons why Des Moines homeowners choose Pella for their replacement window and door needs. Founded in 1925, Pella is privately-held. Our success depends upon customer satisfaction, not stock prices. All of our high quality windows and doors are made with care and serviced by Pella’s professional Direct Sales Network. Unlike other manufacturers who sell exclusively through third-party channels, Pella has dedicated window and entry door showrooms across the United States and Canada. This unique way of doing business gives the homeowners in Des Moines a highly personal experience with the help of a local to Des Moines, Pella-certified team. Whether you are looking for the beauty of wood, the strength of fiberglass, or the low maintenance of vinyl—Pella has a superior quality, energy efficient and durable solution.
